I’ll be one of the three Magma editors giving a free talk about how we edit the magazine, at the Aldeburgh Poetry Festival on 4th November. I’ll be talking about my experience of editing Magma 34. The other editors will be Tim Robertson, who edited our current issue, Magma 35, and Anne-Marie Fyfe, our guest editor for Magma 36, which will be launched next month. Magma will also be sponsoring a workshop by Vicki Feaver on Friday 3rd.
We’ll each focus on one poem from our issue, and what made us select it for the magazine. So if you’ve ever wondered how magazine editors decide what to publish – or if you want to thank me/grill me for publishing/not publishing your poem! – this is your chance. You can also bring along some poems to submit for the next issue of Magma (see the contributions page of the Magma site for our standard guidelines). Full Festival Programme.
I’ve never been to Aldeburgh but I’m told it’s a lovely place and a great festival, so I’m really looking forward to it – hope to see you there.

The symbolism within the tale of Gawain and the Green Knight is fascinating.
I have written a small piece on what it means to me on my blog

Hope you enjoy it!
